Rumors of Inter Milan’s interest in re-signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea are not a figment. Inter CEO, Beppe Marotta, confirmed that his side are working to bring the player back to the Giuseppe Meazza in the near future.

Inter Milan want to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on loan. The club’s unstable financial situation is believed to be the reason Inter have not been able to buy Lukaku permanently.

Negotiations between Inter and Chelsea are currently ongoing. Beppe Marotta hopes his side can announce the return of Lukaku this weekend.

“We can’t officially announce it yet. He is a player who has returned and has given his best with us. We are happy to bring him home,” said Beppe Marotta as quoted by Goal International.

According to the clauses discussed, Romelu Lukaku’s loan does not include an option or obligation to buy the player. Inter Milan reportedly will pay 8 million euros to Chelsea to borrow Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku actually signed for Chelsea last summer from Inter Milan. However, Lukaku’s performance did not meet expectations.

The Belgian player looks difficult to compete at Chelsea. Lukaku is only able to score 15 goals from 44 matches in various competitions.

This number is considered not ideal for an attacker who is a mainstay on the front lines. This is what frustrated Lukaku who asked to be loaned to Inter Milan.

Romelu Lukaku had a wonderful honeymoon period at Inter Milan. Lukaku is recorded as having played for Inter in the 2019-2021 range.

While at Inter, Lukaku transformed into a sharp striker. Lukaku has scored 64 goals in 95 matches played in various competitions.

Lukaku also managed to provide 16 assists. The peak of his career at Inter was when he presented the 2020-2021 Serie A Scudetto title with coach Antonio Conte.

If he agrees to be loaned to Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku will face a formidable challenge. Lukaku needs to adapt again to Inter’s style of play.

The reason is because Lukaku has never played under Simone Inzaghi. The challenge increases as Inter are determined to compete for the title this season.

Lukaku’s presence will certainly add to the sharpness on Inter’s front lines. It is interesting to look forward to the continuation of Lukaku’s career with the club nicknamed I Nerazzurri.
