Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly targeting AC Milan striker Rafael Leao after failing to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe had been heavily linked with a move to Madrid for much of the last year but, in the end, opted to stay with Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid, who won their 14th Champions League after a 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday (29/5/2022), immediately looked for alternatives.

According to Sport, they turned their attention to Leao, who was elected Serie A MVP following his starring role in helping Milan win the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years.

The 22-year-old is getting closer to the entrance of Real Madrid.

Recent reports in Italy say the Portuguese has a release clause of 150 million euros, although the report suggests that Madrid will look for other ways, including by swapping players.

The claim is that Real Madrid will offer forward Luka Jovic and winger Marco Asensio as part of the deal.

Rafael Leao can be said to be a rising star in the AC Milan squad this season. He had such a big impact on the Rossonerri’s attack that they won the Scudetto.

Leao’s slick performance attracted the attention of many of Europe’s top clubs. In recent days, Real Madrid has been rumored to be interested in the Portuguese wonderkid.

AC Milan threatened to lose Leao. Because Real Madrid will go all-out to get the player’s signature.

Real Madrid really wanted Leao. They are ready to spend a lot of money to secure the winger.

The report reveals that Madrid has budgeted around 120 million euros for Leao. They dared to redeem the player at such a high price.

They are optimistic that an offer of that magnitude will be very difficult to ignore Milan. So they hope that Leao will move to Madrid.
