The Darwin Nunez transfer saga is over. Liverpool officially signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica and introduced him as a new player, Wednesday (15/6/2022) early morning WIB.
News of Nunez’s recruitment has been circulating since the last few weeks. Liverpool managed to win the hunt for the former Benfica striker from Manchester United.
Liverpool have to reach deep into their pockets. The Reds are said to have to redeem Nunez with a total price of around 100 million euros.
Nunez seems to be projected as a replacement for Sadio Mane. The Liverpool striker from Senegal is reportedly going to leave for Bayern Munich.
Darwin Nunez was previously reported to have signed a long-term contract. He is said to be playing at Liverpool until 2028.
“Liverpool FC have completed the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica, subject to the successful issuance of a work permit and international clearance,” Liverpool wrote on their official website.
“The Uruguay striker has signed a long-term contract with the Reds after completing personal terms and completing a medical at the AXA Training Centre.”
“Nunez arrives at Anfield after two seasons in Portugal with Benfica, where he scored 48 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions,” added Liverpool.
Darwin Nunez himself will wear jersey number 27 at Liverpool.
Darwin Nunez was full of smiles when he arrived at Liverpool. He then expressed his gratitude to his family who always supported him until he was finally able to join the Reds.
