Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, was very flattered that Robert Lewandowski wanted to move to Camp Nou. Is this a code that Barcelona will desperately pursue the bomber?

The Polish striker is looking to leave the Allianz Arena this summer in search of a new challenge at this stage of his career.

“Lewandowski is a Bayern player and I prefer to remain calm in this regard. We thank him for wanting to come to Barcelona and we are very honored,” Laporta told reporters.

A recent report claims that Barcelona are preparing a final bid of 40 million euros for the striker. However, Bayern asked for double.

The 33-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga champions expires next June and Barcelona are expected to bring him to Camp Nou. Laporta was coy when asked about Lewandowski’s transfer news. He’s still talkative.

On the other hand, Lewandowski has openly wanted a career elsewhere.

“My era at Bayern is over. I don’t see the possibility of continuing to play for this club again. Bayern is a serious club and I’m sure they won’t keep me, I don’t want to play there anymore. Best solution. I hope they don’t stop me,” said Lewandowski.

Lewandowski scored 50 goals and registered seven assists in 46 appearances for Bayern during the 2021/22 season.

In total, he has scored 344 goals and registered 72 assists in 374 appearances for Bayern in all competitions since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2014, establishing himself as one of the best strikers in the world.
